Satellite: Apophenia Opening Reception, co-curated by Saint Piñero at Millennium Film Workshop (167 Wilson Ave.)
Friday, 3/24 6pm-9pm
I wanted to shout out this exciting line up of inspirations, friends, and talented artists including Kimari Hazward, Lauren Davis, Christopher Currence, 8-Ball Community, Saint Piñero, among many others. Piñero has been curating photography exhibitions at Brooklyn’s Millennium Film Workshop since last September. I recently bought Currence’s reappraisal (2023) at his launch last month at Printed Matter in Chelsea, so it’ll be exciting to see some prints of his. But, I haven’t seen Hazward and Davis’s work in a long, long time in person so this will be a super exciting opportunity. I missed Piñero’s work when they were part of artist Ian Lewandowski's Peter the Dealer group exhibit in late 2022. You won’t want to miss this collision of talent in a single space.
On the 24th & 25th March, Satellite will be hosting a one off exhibition in collaboration with Millennium Film in Brooklyn, New York.
Featuring 10 torchbearing photographers from New York & London, APOPHENIA will include eclectic works from; Brooklyn photographer & filmmaker Christopher Currence, Queer Afro-indigenous Nuyorican nightlife photographer Saint Piñero and the unmistakable soft-erotica of Ezekiel & more.
In a coming together of British and American artists like never before, Satellite hopes to foster a longstanding relationship with the creative communities in New York and London.
