TONIGHT 6PM: Artist Talk with Thomas Holton, The Lams of Ludlow Street
Artist Holton will be speaking tonight about the origins of his on-going photography project starting in 2003, at the Chinatown bookstore Yu and Me Books
Artist Talk with Thomas Holton, The Lams of Ludlow Street at Yu and Me Books (44 Mulberry Street)
Tonight, 11/1 6pm
I first learned about Holton’s phenomenal work and commitment to the Lams from his work in the Interior Lives: Contemporary Photographs of Chinese New Yorkers exhibit at the Museum of the City of New York in Fall 2018. The photographs were originally published in 2015 by publisher Kehrer Verlag. I reached out to him to learn more about his work, and he was so generous with offering to talk more after his then exhibit lecture but I dropped the ball on following through. His photographs are a devotion to understanding Chinatown and New York City in contemporary times through the visualization of a single family’s life changes. So rightfully so this talk will be at the first female Asian-American New York City based bookstore. More info below pasted from Holton’s Instagram invitation:
“Please join me next Tuesday 11/1 for an Artists Talk at Yu and Me Books (@yuandmebooks) starting at 6 PM. I’m thrilled to share my work and ideas at this wonderful bookstore in the heart of Chinatown! I’ll talk about the origins and intentions behind the Lams work as well as happily share some recent images that I’m excited about. Lucy Yu’s mission of story telling and fostering community has clearly resonated with a huge audience so I’m thrilled to even be mildly associated with this bookstore! Hope to see some friendly faces on Tuesday.”
